THE CROSS APPEARS TO EYES OF FAITH
We rode into Berlin on the train from Zeuthen in what was formerly East Germany. Our host Wolfgang was going to show us the city of Berlin. We saw where the Wall had been which had once divided East and West Berlin. We saw the Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate. But what stands out most for me is what we didn’t see. Wolfgang was disappointed because the sky was so cloudy that day that we wouldn’t get to see his favorite sight. In the middle of Alexander Platz, the Communist government had built a communications tower. It stands looking like a ball balanced on a tall thin leg. The surface is metal and reflects the sun’s rays. “Whenever the sun shines, we see the Cross there.
