TIME TO LIVE
A man returned to his home-town after a prolonged absence. As he asked questions about his old friends, he learned that one boy was now a leading citizen, a girl in his class had attained considerable wealth, a good friend had gone into politics, and so on. He then remembered a lazy, listless fellow he had once known, so he asked if he was yet alive. The man he questioned shook his head and with a twinkle in his eye answered, “No, he’s not even alive yet!” Perhaps it is time to begin to live… Adapted from In the Last Analysis, by Alexander Kerr, pgs. 40 – 41
