LITANY OF THANKSGIVING
We can be thankful and grateful to the Lord even in the midst of suffering. A woman named Sally was a patient in the hospital; the doctors had to amputate her leg. She was terribly depressed and upset. She said that she did not even want to go on living. Well, her pastor went to visit her and before he left, he prayed out loud for her. The next day, when he returned, she was a different person, smiling and very much at peace. She credited her new attitude to her pastor. She said to him: “When you prayed for me yesterday, you said ‘thank you’ all the time–you began every prayer with ‘thank you, Lord, thank you for Sally’s family and for their taking such loving care of her.'” She then said, “And after you left, I thought about it. I really do have a lot to be thankful for.” Even when suffering, let us raise a prayer of praise…
