GOT RELIGION
There is a story told about a Baptist lady from South Carolina who was visiting her daughter in New York City. It was Sunday and the two women decided to go to church together. They decided to attend the large church down the street. It was a very prestigious church, a very formal church, where the ushers were still wearing frock coats with boutonnieres in their lapels. While the minister was delivering his sermon, this lively, vibrant older lady was particularly in tune with a certain point, and yelled out in this quiet church, “Amen, brother!” One of the befrocked and boutonniered ushers came running up and said, “Lady, are you ill?” “‘Ill’, young fellow?” she answered, “I’m not ill, I got religion!” The usher then said, “Good Lord, lady! Not here!” From Ordinary No Longer by Lowell D. Streiker, Ladera Community Church, February 9, 1992
