STANDING AT THE EDGE OF DAWN
I sometimes visit a beautiful park where there is a statue of a soldier holding a broken sword above his head, as if he is charging into battle. The statue bears an inscription which says, “Men who saw night coming down about them could somehow act as if they stood at the edge of dawn.” Just to endure, in some situations, may be a victory. But it is a greater victory to stand, and an even greater one, particularly when darkness is all around, to act as if you stand “at the edge of dawn.” By Herchel Sheets in Pulpit Digest
