TEENS & THEIR CULTURE
Our teenagers need to understand that they do not live in a vacuum. They live in a culture that will exercise its influence on every area of our lives. It is important that they not only learn how to influence their culture with the truth of Jesus Christ. As we seek to prepare them, we need to be humbly honest about the places where our own lifestyles have been more shaped by cultural norms than by biblical principles. We cannot disciple our teenagers into a consistently biblical lifestyle without being willing to evaluate the places where our own lives are inconsistent. From Age of Opportunity, A Biblical Guide to Parenting Teens, by Paul David Tripp, published by Presbyterian and Reformed Publishing Company, Phillipsburg, New Jersey, p. 158
