DIFFERENT NAME FOR SIN
Abraham Lincoln once asked one of his critics, “How many legs does a cow have?” “Four” was the reply. “If you call her tail a leg, how many does she have?” “Five” was the answer. “No,” Lincoln said, “Just calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg.” Just calling sin by a different name, doesn’t change the truth about sin. To admit that we are sinning is offensive. We try to put a better face on it by using euphemisms. We call Adultery: a meaningful relationship; Greed: being goal oriented Stinginess: being a good steward; Sensual Lifestyle: grabbing all the gusto we can; Drunkeness: partying; Lying: a little white lie; Hate: a personality conflict; Unforgiveness: a little problem; The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:20 that “the soul that sinneth shall die.”
