NBC & NOAH’S ARK
For those who were a bit uncomfortable with the “artistic liberties” taken by NBC in their recent biblical epic: “Noah’s Ark” that was shown on May 2 and 3, 1999–liberties such as showing Noah and Lot as contemporaries–here are some comforting words from a couple of its stars. Jon Voight who played Noah says, “I think all the Bible stories are packed with meaning. No question about it. I take these stories quite literally; I don’t treat them as metaphors. It seems to me there are no deeper stories than these. They’re powerful.” And co-star Mary Steenburgen who played Noah’s wife adds, “Do you mean do I believe that every single bit of it happened? Well, I actually do.” The Bible lives in Hollywood! Adapted from a report by Kate O’Hare by Tribune Media Services
