RECONCILIATION LETTERS
On the campus of Baylor University in Waco, Texas is the library containing the works of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Elizabeth’s parents so disapproved of her marriage to Robert that they disowned her. Weekly she wrote letters to her parents seeking reconciliation. They never replied and after ten years returned all the letters to her. None had been opened. Today these letters remain as some of the most beautiful in all English literature. Had her parents read only a few of them, reconciliation might have occurred. The Bible is God’s letter of reconciliation to us. We need to read it carefully and often.
