BRAVE LITTLE DAD
A psychologist at the University of Chicago was once telling about the difference made by example. He and his wife were expecting their first child. And he was scared! He played along like all was well, but – bottom line – he really was scared! He tried to deal with this fear, to convince himself that it was not rational to be afraid. But nothing seemed to help. The solution to his problem occurred incidentally. He was approached by an acquaitance who congratulated him on his soon-to-be-born child. The acquaintance continued to tell the joy of delivering their first child. He was excited and somewhat detailed in his report. Normally, this descriptive account would have been discouraging to the psychologist. But this time it was not. In fact, the expectant father was no longer frightened at all. He was twice the size of this brave little father. His conclusion was that if this “little wimp” could go through this experience, then…
