FRIENDS PASS THE PLATE
In Walnut Cove by Collum, a couple and their neighbor are standing outside a Church. It’s obvious that this is the first time that the neighbor has ever been to Church. He says, “Well, I have to admit, Glen, your church is awfully friendly. I can almost see myself becoming religious in a place like that. Yesser, mighty friendly; I particularly liked the part where they passed around a plate full of money.” It’s amazing how many people think just like that neighbor. Oh, I don’t mean that people are taking money out of the offering plate. But some people come with the expectation of seeing what they can get out of the Church rather than what they can do or give for God and the work of the Church.
