A THANKFUL HEART
Evelyn Gunter, author and poet, wrote: A cold November wind blew lazy snowflakes across the cemetery. I pulled the coat around me more tightly as I stood by a new mound. Summer flowers had been hardened by the frost. I knelt beside them with a sense of gratitude. “Thank you, Lord,” I whispered. “Thank you for my family in heaven.” I looked over at Baby Samuel’s small white stone. He was the first of the family to enter heaven. Then my attention came back to the nearest grave, unmarked as yet. It was the final resting place for my minister husband. The fresh sod, soon to be covered by snow, suggested hope, not despair. I was thankful, for I knew the second member of my family had been called into the presence of the Lord. A warmth filled my heart as I realized they were with Jesus, waiting to welcome me when my task would be done. I had a new…
