PHILIPPINE DEMOCRACY
In 1986, Corazon C Aquino, the president of the Philippine Islands addressed the United States Congress with the following appeal for U. S. support for the free democracy of her country: “You have spent many lives and much treasure to bring freedom to many lands that were reluctant to receive it. And here you have a people who won it by themselves and need only the help to preserve it.”
