Busyness | Fellowship | Latin Culture | People | Perspective | Priorities | Stewardship | Time | Urgency

A BETTER WAY
I spoke recently with Daniel Davila, the director to Summit School of Theology in Broomfield, Colorado concerning time. Daniel highlighted the difference between the concept of time in the United States and that which prevails in Latin countries. Although of Latin heritage, Daniel recognizes how he, himself, has been affected by this different perspective. While in a South American country, he was to meet with some church leaders. They were a couple of hours late. When they finally did arrive, Daniel was ready to get on with the business at hand. They were not. They were much more interested in greeting and emotional sharing. Daniel appreciates these “Latin reminders” and is concerned that the pressures and expectations all around us do not swallow up our accessibility. Are we open and approachable to those around us or are we marked as those who are TOO BUSY and involved with things that are “more important” or “more urgent” than spending our time…
