A FATHER IS ONE WHO LOVES!
Several years ago there was a delightful play called “Fanny” on Broadway. “Fanny” was the story of a young girl in love with a young man. When she told him that she was pregnant, his response was to take a job on a ship and go to sea. There was another man who knew all about the situation and was moved to help. He married the pregnant girl and took care of her. When the child was born it was given his name. Not long afterward the young sailor came back into port and discovered what had happened. He was furious, and he wanted “his” baby. In discussing the situation with an uncle he sought to state his case for custody of the child. “Tell me, uncle. Who is the real father? The one who gave the baby life or the one who buys its bibs?” The uncle’s simple reply was, “The father is the one who loves.”…
