DUCK TEACHES ENCOURAGEMENT
While a man was fishing at night, a male and female duck were drawn to the lights that shone over the water from his boat. The two mallard ducks were feasting on the minnows that were congregated under the lights. They also were enjoying the offerings the man was giving them as he frequently replaced dead minnows on his hooks with fresh ones. The man placed a fresh minnow on the hook and dangled the hook and minnow over the water as he prepared to cast. The hen saw the minnow dangling over the water and darted for it. Once the minnow was in the hen’s mouth, the hen was hooked. The hen began to squawk and swim in a panic as the man tried to calm the hen–obviously without success. In a desperate attempt to help the hen, the man cut the line. But this did not help the hen. The lead sinker at the end of the line suddenly…
