HE GAVE – WE GIVE
Grace Kittinger was a school teacher in our first church in New Mexico, out in the Rio Grande Valley. She shared with me how she learned to tithe. Her father was a rancher here in central Texas, early in this century. She told of her girlhood and how each year when the cattle were sold her father would bring all the money home from the sale and spread it out on the dining room table. Then he would gather all the children around to watch as he counted the money out. Grace said as long as she could remember the thing that stood out in her mind most was the action of her father counting out the tithe of that money and laying it aside first, then counting out money for the various things that the family needed. She said that when time came for her to go away to her first job teaching school that she was gone…
