PRESERVED FOR SALVATION
In a former parish, I met a young Japanese lady who had married an American soldier and immigrated to this country. She had been attending worship services with her husband, and when their second child, an infant son died suddenly, I was called to conduct the service. As a result of hearing the gospel preached at the baby’s funeral, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Some time later, she was asked to give her personal testimony, and I have never forgotten it. She was reared on one of the northern islands of Japan. Toward the close of World War II, when Russia entered the Pacific,her townspeople were fleeing for their lives for fear of the Russians. The deprivation had been terrible; food supplies were gone. Her mother finally gathered the family and headed for the harbor to escape.
