A POSITIVE FOCUS
The phrase “with thanksgiving” is one of the primary ways the Bible refers to positive communication. Time and time again we are exhorted to pray “with thanksgiving,” Along with thanksgiving, adoration and praise are also to be included in our conversations with God. Thanksgiving, adoration and praise are, by their very nature, positive. They cause us to focus on God – who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He can do. This helps us to resist our inevitable tendency to focus on ourselves. From The Trauma of Transparency, by J. Grant Howard, published by Multnomah Press, 1979
