OUTLAWS CONVERTED
In a Chilean revival, the worship services were drawing thieves in such numbers that the police no longer had to give chase. In Valparaiso, Chile, the Chilean Methodist Pentecostal Church had evening meetings with joyful singing. The local thieves, sneaking out to make their rounds, heard the songs, listened for a time, and became convicted of sin. The local police, concerned that they could not keep track of many of their suspects, eventually traced them to the church. Then they did something unprecedented. They sent the church a New Year’s card with photographs of twenty-four criminals. The genial message suggested that the photographs should be filed at the church. They no longer belonged at the police station.
