EVANGELISM OPPORTUNITIES
The effectiveness of the Christian’s role as a witness for church growth decreases with that person’s maturity in Christ. The first is that older Christians simply have fewer contacts with non-Christians. notice that the same principle applies to most second- generation Christians. Sons and daughters of Christian parents, who have been raised in the church, have fairly well limited their circle of friends to Christians, so even when they are converted, their potential for evangelism is not very high compared to that of a new convert from the world. The second reason why older Christians have very little evangelistic potential is the phenomenon called “redemption and lift.” The very power of the Christian life that is generated within a new convert may soon lift him or her out of their former environment.
