REPETITIOUS INSANITY
Conrad Lowe said that a psychiatrist friend told him, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again expecting that sometime you will get a different result.” When you visit people who are truly insane in a mental ward they will be doing the same thing over and over again. Rocking themselves, writing the same words over and over again, saying the same thing over and over again, or they will be wringing their hands. Sometimes, though we are not clinically insane, we do the same thing over and over and over again thinking we will get a different result. The lesson for church ministry is to ask ourselves what we are doing over and over again that isn’t producing results. Change must become our best friend instead of our worst enemy.
