STATUS QUO
Rastus had been off to junior college for three months and had learned himself an education. He explained his reasoning to his brother Jake, “I went off to school to get myself out of this status quo that we’re in.” Jake had not been to any college and didn’t know those big words Rastus knew. So Jake asked Rastus, “What does status quo mean?” “Status quo,” Rastus answered, “is the Latin word for the big mess we’re in.”
