SUMMATION
Each of my days find me
Seeking to perfect myself
For all the noble reasons
Men seek wholeness,
(And some lesser ones too.)
I’ve dreamed like a pilgrim
And known a poet’s thirst.
I’ve wanted to attain holiness
And found humanity to be a shackle.
I’ve loved and cherished good
And tasted and spat out what’s bad,
(and sometimes confused the two.)
I’ve known love and rejection,
Sometimes from the same source.
I’ve relied on an inner strength,
A sense of humor
And the love of the Almighty
To carry me through dark places.
Now, when I gather up my life,
Adding what is to my credit
And subtracting the rest,
There’s just God and me… and you. By Robby Robinson, St. Canera Catholic Church, Neosho, Missouri
