ENGLISH HEATHEN
Around 1,300 years ago, some Christian missionaries went to a dangerous little island, full of savage tribes, to tell the people about Christ, and especially about his resurrection. The name of this savage island was Britain; and up in the northern part of the island, then known as Northumbria, there was a heathen king named Edwin, who had begun to feel dissatisfied with the old heathen gods. He had listened to the missionaries preaching about Christ, and was thinking of becoming a Christian, but he found it very hard to make up his mind. So he called a meeting of his counselors to discuss the matter. The heathen priests were at the meeting, with their leader, Coifi, and Edwin began by asking them what they thought about this new religion called Christianity.
