NO MORE MARBLES
An officer in a crack British regiment owned a number of fine horses. He engaged in racing and kept hunters as a well-to-do gentleman. He was converted and gave up hunting. Some time later, he was at an assembly and met a woman whom he knew: “Captain, I hear you have been converted and have given up your hunting.” “Yes, I have.” “Well, now, Captain, if there was a hunt here next week, you would like to come, would you not?” “Lady Mary, when I was a boy, I was very fond of marbles, but when I got hold of horses, I lost all taste for marbles. Will you go and just turn that over in your mind?” Later she was converted.
