NO CONFUSION ON FUSION
The word “fusion” refers to a coalescence of materials, a blending of them together, so that they form a unit. It comes from a Latin word which means “to melt” and, hence, really points to what we would call welding–the heating of metals until they run together so that, when cooled, they are united in one. More recently this term has been heralded as the integration of different kinds of food ingredients to create meals that reflect blended cultures. Fusion cooking has been around for a long time. It now has a name that reflects the process of blending and fusing in a positive manner for a pleasant result. This concept of fusion is useful to demonstrate the positive result that is available as we blend our lives, our backgrounds, and our cultures together to accomplish an interpersonal and a spiritual reality that is of great value.
