TRAVEL ADVICE FOR THE P0PE
Prior to the April, 1992 decision of the Pope to come to Denver, Colorado in August, 1993, he received a number of encouraging letters from the students of Good Shepherd Elementary and Middle Schools. Important travel information was offered such as… “We have Taco Bell.” and “Denver is a decent city. I’m sure it is nothing like Rome.” Others highlighted certain features to be found in or near Denver such as: The U.S. Mint – “…maybe you could get a little extra money.” Many churches – “You would practicly be up all knight touring all of the churches.” No important people – “…our city hasn’t had anyone real important come here and I’d really like to meet you.” Other useful information can be gleaned from other letters such as: The pope will like Las Vegas… Los Angeles is nice, but polluted… If you want boredom, go to Florida… If you want a tan (suntan?!?), go to Chicago… Whatever you…
