DIVIDED LOYALTIES
Imagine a little league baseball player waiting on deck. His father, standing behind the backstop, tells him to swing away because he can hit the pitches from this pitcher. Upon coming to the plate, the boy looks down the third base line and gets the sign from the coach not to swing. Who does the boy listen to? Either way someone will be upset with him. Christ gave us specific instructions (Luke 9:61 & 62) that if we are going to follow him, we can’t allow any other relationship, no matter how well meaning, to prevent us from accomplishing His instructions.
