A MONSTROUS GIFT
In Port Arthur, Texas, children at a Sunday School party were playing an alphabet game. Each would take turns saying, “I’m going to a Christmas Party, and I’ll bring ‘——‘ (naming a gift such as apples, balls or toys). Nine year old David had trouble thinking of a gift item beginning with the letter “F”, so his teacher tried to help him. “Remember the Wise Men and the gifts they brought the Christ Child?” she asked. David thought for a moment, smiled and said, “I’m going to a Christmas Party, and I’ll bring Frankenstein.” From Faith, Hope and Hilarity by Dick Van Dyke, Doubleday & Company, Inc., Garden City, New York
