IMPERFECT SUFFERING
Calvin fires a snowball at Susie. It hits her with a loud “SMACK!” and he hollers, “Yes!” Then all of a sudden he has a vision of an angry Santa, turns and half heartedly hollers, “I’m sorry.” Susie says, “Not as sorry as you’re GOING to be!” And then she lunges at Calvin. In the final scene, all you can see are Calvin’s feet sticking out of the snow. He says, “I think as long as you SUFFER for you sins, they don’t count.” To which Hobbes replies, “It’s your only hope.” From Calvin and Hobbes, by Bill Watterson, December 21, 1992
