THE OTHER SIDE
In a recent Family Circus, it’s night and Dolly and Billy are outside looking at the sky. Dolly points to the full moon and says, “Grandad can see the OTHER side of the moon from up in heaven.” The OTHER side. I heard heaven called that a couple of years ago, when I assisted a retired preacher in a funeral. In Texas, the custom is to view the body one last time immediately after the funeral. Friends and family file past and say good-bye once again. The minister or ministers go first and then stand by the casket to comfort any who needed it. As we stood in front of the casket, I heard the preacher say, “I’ll see you on the other side.” What a marvelous faith and what a joyous thought. From Family Circus, by Bill Keane, April 27, 1991
