WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES
It has been about two months since we discovered that our two-year-old daughter, Lisa, has cancer. Of course, things aren’t back to normal. They never will be. Our biggest struggle has been to fight atrophy. Grief stagnates you and the slightest decision requires monumental effort. Your vision becomes tunneled and for a while you can see nothing but your daughter . . . But God is not stopped. His will will be accomplished ultimately. Evil has won for the moment and the pain inflicted by its victory is not less painful because we know God can use even it for our good . . . For now we will live a day at a time, knowing someday we will be able to ask God some very hard questions. Mike Yaconelli, as quoted in Jesus Makes The Difference, page 29, by James A. Harnish, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Orlando, FL.
