THE DISCIPLINE OF TEACHING
I teach children in the church school because I care — care about them and care about sharing my faith. I would like to help all children feel good about themselves and about God’s love for them. A long time ago I read (I think it was from Dr. James Smart, but I’m not certain) that our purpose isn’t to make ‘good children’ of our boys and girls but to make ‘God’s children’ of them. You grow up in a church — physically, mentally, and spiritually. If you believe, then you are compelled to share what you can. In order to share, you are compelled to learn more about what you want to share, and about how best to share it. I know my teaching has to do with faith, but I think it has to do with growth as well.
