FREEDOM FOR FOOLISHNESS
Pastor Linden Pack argued before the Supreme Court in 1974 that the Tennessee snake- handling ban violated his right to freedom of religion. He lost the battle; this past week his stepson lost his life. Jimmy Ray Williams, 28, of Hot Springs, North Carolina, was bitten on the right arm by a three-foot black timber rattler during a service at the House of Prayer in Jesus Name Church.
