STEWARDSHIP
At our church youth camp we were working hard on the theme of ‘stewardship’. The campers were working hard to memorize II Cor. 9:7, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion . . .” After a period of time I asked if anyone had the passage memorized. One fifth grader anxiously raised her hand. She said, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not repulsively or under convulsions.” Although her recitation was not accurate, her point was well taken. Many do give with great upheaval of spirit — repulsively and under convulsions.
