On June 4, 1998 The Denver Post ran an Associated Press article by Rochelle Olson about David Weinlick, a graduate student in anthropology, and Elizabeth Runze, a pharmacy student at the University of Minnesota, and their “arranged” wedding. David had years earlier picked the date, time and place of his wedding. He just did not have a bride. So he let his friends and relatives vote for the right woman for him. On the day of the wedding, June 13, 1998, two dozen women who had applied to be his bride showed up at the Mall of America for the interview with David’s friends and relatives.
