THEY JUST DIED
When we lived in Astoria, Illinois there was a tragedy that captured the attention of the entire community and even made the area papers and television. An elderly couple were found dead in their home. To the coroner, it was obvious that they had died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The eighty-two-year- old husband was found sitting in his favorite chair, holding his newspaper. The seventy-eight-year-old wife was seated at the kitchen table still holding the knife and potato that she had been peeling. It was speculated that the flue in the chimney had become blocked causing this tragedy. The folks in the house were unaware of this. In fact, they were unaware that anything could be wrong as the oxygen in their house was used up. They simply lost consciousness and were gone. None of us knows what is going to happen in the future, especially how much time we have remaining. But each of us knows that at some point…
