PRINCE OF PEACE
Jesus the Christ child is called the Prince of Peace — and often the picture of that peace is limited to the innocuous babe in the manger and the quiet and still of the holy night in which he was born. And certainly that was a peaceful and tranquil scene. But the real peace that Christ came to bring was not a fruit of the stable — it was a fruit of his ugly, cruel death upon the cross. As John Bunyan wrote in Grace Abounding: “I remember that one day as I was musing on the wickedness and blasphemy of my heart and considering the enmity that was in me to God, that the Scripture came into my mind, ‘he hath made peace through the blood of his cross’ by which I was made to see again that God and my soul were friends by His blood.” Yes, Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
