A CHILD’S UNDERSTANDING OF CHRISTMAS
This past Christmas my 4-year-old had made up his own version of the second verse of “Away In A Manger.” Most people sing “The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes . . . ” But my son misunderstood and was singing: “The catalog knowing, the baby awakes . . . ” With the commercialism and all the catalogs that appear at Christmas time, I didn’t think that his paraphrase was so far off, for some!
