GOSPEL OR EVANGEL IS GOOD NEWS
Gospel is translated from the Greek word euangelion (pronounced YOO-ON-GEL-ION). Euangelion comes from EU (GOOD as in eulogy) and ANGELOS (message or messenger as in angel). The gospel or the evangel simply means “good news.” And that is all exactly what the gospel is — the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The gospel is not a burden; it is a joyous message of peace with God and deliverance from sin and death. It is the provision of eternal life and eternal fellowship with the Creator of all that is. The gospel denies us of nothing but lets us become who we were meant to be: fully alive, carriers of God’s Spirit, and heirs of all that is his. The Gospel is a gracious message of love. How can we possibly keep this good news from anyone? Michael Hodgin
