HUME & WHITFIELD
George Whitfield swept the eighteenth century with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In one area he ministered every morning at six o’clock. People trudged through the snow to hear him preach. On one occasion, the Scottish skeptic, David Hume, was seen walking to that little chapel where Whitfield was to preach. An acquaintance saw him and said, “Mr. Hume, I didn’t know you believed this message.” Hume replied, “I don’t, but that man Whitfield does, and I can’t stay away.” From Charles Swindoll at a Pastor’s Conference in 1984
