HIT BY A TRAIN
The most sobering account of extravagant love that I know, is demonstrated by a friend of my wife, Alice Rangal. Alice grew up with my wife in Cozad, Nebraska. Her mother and grandmother had a reputation for being the “worst of the worst.” They were known for drinking and sleeping around, and they made life miserable for Alice and her brothers and sisters. One afternoon, while in a drunken state, her mother and grandmother had all the kids in the car, and they stalled the car on the railroad tracks. Off in the distance a Union Pacific freight train blew it’s whistle, and Alice could see the train racing toward them. When Alice realized that her mother and grandmother were too drunk to understand the danger they were in, she began to get her brothers and sisters out of the car. As she was pulling both of them to safety, the train hit the car at sixty miles an hour.…
