FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
A friend of mine is an avid downhill skier and has been employed as a ski instructor at times. One time when we went skiing together he taught me a very valuable lesson: When you ski downhill you always keep your head and upper body facing down the mountain. Even when your legs are going side- to-side, your upper body is headed downhill. When you master that insight you will find that you can handle most situations with greater balance and skill. Even difficult moguls (bumps on the mountain) are easier to maneuver when we keep on heading downhill. On the other hand, if you keep turning this way and that and facing wherever your legs take you, you are sure to lose your balance and wipe out before long. What an accurate reflection of what we are called to in Christ. Keeping our eyes on Him will keep us strong and well-balanced. And even the difficult trials and other “bumps…
