GOD’S MIGHTY ARMY
An entry was made in the diary of a Civil War soldier in Lee’s confederate army. He was on his way to Gettysburg, writing a note to his wife. His feet were sore; he tells her that his shoes don’t fit, that he is tired and hungry. But he also says, “As I look at this army around me, stretched out in every direction, I know that never again will I be part of anything as powerful as this.” There’s something in all our hearts that identifies with this soldier. In our lives, we know there are parts that don’t fit. There are sore feet and less-than-perfect lives. We are sometimes very tired and spiritually hungry and thirsty. But Easter is the reminder that we march with a band of people that stretches out in every direction.
