ISLAM CLAIMS NO SAVIOR
Islam reads the story of the prodigal son and claims that the wayward son is forgiven by the father without the need of a savior: The son fails… the son returns… the father forgives… no savior needed. This story has no cross, no suffering, and no savior. Islam reasons that if man seeks forgiveness, then God is merciful and will forgive him. God is all-powerful and can do as he pleases — nothing else matters — not the incarnation, not the cross, not the resurrection of Jesus from the grave. God’s forgiveness depends only on his desire to forgive. Islam sees this story as proof that Christians have sadly perverted Christ’s own message. The simple truth of God’s Word, however, is that God desires the forgiveness of those who are lost.
