JESUS CAME FOR US ALL
In a world of increasing divisions and hatred, at Christmas we welcome the Prince of Peace, Christ, for “it is he who is our peace, and who made the two of us one by breaking down the barrier of hostility that kept us apart” (Ephesians 2:14). In a Mexican slum there is a destitute old woman who each year puts up an extensive crib set. The Christ Child is in the center, of course, and around him she places dozens and dozens of figures of people and animals. None of them match; and they are not in scale with each other, each two to five inches high. She just clutters the set with whatever figurines she can find. Although she cannot read or write, she has the spiritual insight to see that it is Christ who can reconcile and bring together the diverse people of the earth. By Henry Fehren
