SUFFOCATED BY COATS
Recently I read a sad story about a wealthy Boston couple who had invited some friends over to their home for a christening party for their new baby. A half hour into the party, the mother went to bring the baby out only to make a tragic discovery. The large bed on which the baby had been sleeping was piled high with the coats of the guests. The lifeless form of the child was found underneath the mound, suffocated by the coats. That tragic story illustrated what in many ways has happened to the true meaning of Christmas. The world has long since lost the realization that Christmas is, more than anything else, the celebration of the Savior smothered underneath all the commotion of Christmas.
