MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT
Another way of putting the problem is to say that we must not permit people who commit themselves to Jesus Christ and his church to remain in a spectator role. They must not be permitted to say “yes” intellectually and then avoid the consequences. Too often the careful church membership class which precedes a person’s entry into the church is looked upon as a course from which one graduates, and in effect becomes a Christian alumnus for the rest of his life, his education completed, and he is now free to sit back and criticize the administration.
