MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT
Another way of putting the problem is to say that we must not permit people who commit themselves to Jesus Christ and his church to remain in a spectator role. They must not be permitted to say “yes” intellectually and then avoid the consequences. Too often the careful church membership class which precedes a person’s entry into the church is looked upon as a course from which one graduates, and in effect becomes a Christian alumnus for the rest of his life, his education completed, and he is now free to sit back and criticize the administration. Written by George W. Webber, God’s Colony in Man’s World, pgs. 116 – 117
