RESIDENT HERETICS
For some reason, just about every church has a member who digs deep into the Word and comes up with unusual doctrines that nobody has ever heard of before. His only way to get attention is to propagate these “important truths.” They become his personal test for orthodoxy and spirituality. Instead of using his time to win the lost or edify the saints, he tries to win converts to his cause, not unlike cultists. In some cases, these members are harmless and the church smiles at them and ignores them. In other cases they become real problems and must be dealt with. Let the man know you love him but disagree with him. Talk to him in private. Try to reason with him.
